Welcome to CMDFA Victoria!

The Victorian State Branch has been an active branch of CMDFA for many years, yet in in 2010, we have a fresh new leadership team.

The Victorian State Branch is based in Melbourne – where there is active fellowship of graduates and recent graduates. We also work closely with medical and dental students who have their own leadership team. In addition, dental graduates also have a separate fellowship. (Christian Dental Fellowship)

Beyond Melbourne, we seek to provide support for student groups in regional centres, and we have a rural mentor program linking students and junior grads rotating to rural communities to local Christian practitioners. We also facilitates students and junior graduates going on short-term missions or doing electives overseas.

One of our focuses this year will be building relationships in context of small groups. Currently, there are small groups in hospitals (via CMDFA hospital link) and small groups hosted at homes (via CMDFA mentor link). There is also a monthly Saturday prayer breakfast. We are planning to have a regular missions focus group.

CMDFA Vic actively supports three metropolitan student fellowships – Melbourne Medical, Monash Medical, and Melbourne Dental. We seek to support other regional medical student fellowships when possible.

We also run events every two to three months for everyone in the fellowship to participate. We seek to discuss issues relevant to medical and dental practitioners in these meetings. We aim to help each other to integrate faith and practice.

Annual Dinner/AGM

You're invited to join our annual formalites and celebration with CMDFAers from all over Melbourne and regional Victoria. Our special speaker this year is Dr Justin Denholm, an infectious diseases physician at RMH. He has clinical and research interests in tuberculosis, influenza, HIV as well as christian ethics. He is currently coordinator for the Centre for Applied Christian Ethics at Ridley College. His wife Gina and two sons, William and Charlie, have so far managed to survive without a car, but would be lost without their coffee machine!

2. Hospital Link
Hospital link helps connect you to fellow believers for refreshing fellowship and prayer right where the mission field (and stress) is! Current groups meet in Monash, Austin, Peter James, Royal Melbourne, Kingston Center, Maroondah and Eye and Ear Hospital. If there isn't a group at your hospital, we'd love to help you start one!

3. Christian Dental Fellowship (Grads): Stewardship
CDF Grads is a community of christian dental people who want to build each other up in Christ, and to encourage one another to live out our faith in our workplaces. Our focus this year is to explore spiritual issues in dentistry from a biblical perspective.
